1988 Arcade Hit Vigilante Is Getting A Fan-Made Genesis Port

The classic arcade beat-’em-up game Vigilante by Irem is receiving a fan-made port for the Sega Genesis (known as the Mega Drive outside North America). Originally released in 1988, Vigilante is a side-scrolling fighter that gained popularity for its fast-paced action and urban setting. This fan project is being developed by Fabrice Fernandez, a programmer known for his passion for retro gaming and unofficial ports.

The Sega Genesis/Mega Drive never had an official release of Vigilante, so this fan-made version aims to bring the arcade experience to the console’s hardware. The project has garnered attention from retro gaming enthusiasts, as it showcases the enduring appeal of classic arcade titles and the dedication of fan developers in preserving and reimagining these games for new platforms.

No release date has been announced yet, but updates on the project are expected as development progresses.

I'm Mubarak AlSabah, born in '87, and I'm a big fan of retro games. I’ve been gaming since '93, so it's been a lifelong passion for me. Collecting retro games is my favorite hobby, and I have a great collection that takes you back in time. In addition to gaming, I also have 830+ premium domain names, which is another hobby that I love just as much. I started collecting domains in '97, combining my interest in the digital world with my love for nostalgic gaming.
