Retro-inspired Action Title Abathor Ultimate Edition Announced

Abathor is a retro-inspired 2D action platformer released on Steam, Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox in July 2024. It has since gone on to be a hit and has garnered positive reviews from players and critics. Now, developer Pow Pixel Games and publisher Jandusoft have announced that Abathor Ultimate Edition is available on all platforms as a free upgrade to the main game.

In a press statement, Jundasoft said. “This major update brings significant enhancements to the game’s mechanics, visuals, and gameplay experience, and is now available on all platforms. With this new version, players can now enjoy a faster, more dynamic experience that sharpens the original vision while respecting its old-school roots.”

Set in a mythic vision of Atlantis, Abathor draws inspiration from classics like Conan, Rastan, and Super Castlevania IV. It blends action-platforming with cooperative and competitive gameplay for up to four players. Other new features include characters that now run and all hitboxes redesigned for a faster, fresher, and more dynamic experience. There has also been some balancing refinement to make Abathor more accessible to newcomers to the genre and to cater to veterans. Finally, a new speed run mode has been added the world map has been redrawn with more detail.
