Arcade basketball title Punk Shot, released by Konami in 1990, has been released on Switch and PlayStation this week. Like clockwork, we can always rely on Hamster Co. to spoil us with a new title for its ever-growing Arcade Archives collection. In Punk Shot, players can go it alone or create teams with three others to defeat the rival team in two-on-two dunkfests.
There are various gimmicks set up during the game, so players need to be careful not to get too distracted by their opponent and lose the ball to them. And in classic 90s arcade style, attacks are allowed with kicks and punches needed to bring down the opposition. Even the characters for each of the two teams have punk names such as Basher and Spike.
As with all other titles in the Arcade Archives collection, Punk Shot allows players to customise the experience to create their perfect game. They can adjust the difficulty level to create more of a challenge or a chilled, casual experience. They can also add CRT filters that recreate the ’90s glow from arcade cabs back in the day. There are also online high score tables to challenge in as well as other modern quality of life features. Last week’s Arcade Archives title was Super Xevious.
