Labyrinth of the Demon King is a new retro-inspired survival horror title that is out now on Steam, Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox. Publisher Top Hat Studios describes the PS1-esque title as a “dungeon crawler-meets-survival horror” game set in Feudal Japan. To celebrate the announcement of the game coming to consoles made on 22nd April 2025, there is a new two-minute trailer showcasing more game mechanics and areas not previously seen.
Set in a world authentically inspired by ancient feudal Japanese and Buddhist folklore, Labyrinth of the Demon King combines brutal, hardcore dungeon crawling with survival horror themes to create a visceral, heart-pounding experience. The game’s demo, which was teased in Halloween 2024 and then released fully in this past Steam Next Fest, received critical acclaim from both critics and users.
Now the whole game is out, it has once again been met with critical praise from gamers and the press, and this one will please retro fans with its low-poly graphics and grim early 2000s feel. The game was developed by Jacob R. Hudepohl, and it’s impressive to think the whole game was made by one person. Labyrinth of the Demon King features a range of weapons, from katanas and naginatas to muskets and bows to use in brutal, challenging combat. To succeed, players will also need to explore every nook and cranny of the levels to find valuable resources and equipment.
