We reported on the last Seablip, a pixel art pirate sim from solo developer Jardar Solli at the back end of 2025. Now, publisher Vibedy has announced that the popular seafaring adventure has another major update titled Captain Battle. The update also introduces new Enemy Fleet battles, tasking players with taking down multiple enemy ships back-to-back without pause, alongside full gamepad support, two new music tracks, expanded world events, additional sound effects, and a range of quality-of-life improvements.
This update is Seablip’s biggest gameplay expansion since launching on Steam Early Access in 2024. The Captain Battle Update introduces the new Captain Duel system, with a questline challenging players to defeat 10 mysterious Galleon Guard bosses. Players can now battle rival captains using 17 unique swords, each featuring its own special attack ability, while crew members throw health, armour, spell books, and other useful items to turn the tide of battle. Players will also need to be careful, as enemy captains can also grab items mid-battle, creating chaotic and unpredictable showdowns!
“Captain Duel is fun, chaotic, intense, engaging, and changes the game completely. It is the pirate juice Seablip needed to feel diverse and alive”, said Jardar Solli, solo developer of Seablip. “With this new mechanic, I can now focus on completing Seablip‘s main story and add some very interesting duels and plot lines!”
