DK Challenge is a limited-time-only Donkey Kong event on Nintendo Switch 2 for Nintendo Switch Online members, who can access the DK Challenge event via the console’s Nintendo Switch Online app.
The event offers a range of challenges across a number of Donkey Kong games, with extra challenges available by playing Donkey Kong games in the Nintendo Switch Online’s Nintendo Classics catalog, and, for those who own the Nintendo Switch 2 game Donkey Kong Bananza, there will be challenges to complete in that game too.
Upon completing the DK Challenge challenges, digital Challenge Cards can be earned.
Nintendo has said that the challenges on offer in the DK Challenge event will range “from beginner-friendly ones to tougher Developer Challenges that’ll drive even the most experienced players a bit bananas!”
The DK Challenge event was announced during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct presentation. It launched yesterday (June 9th, 2026) and it will run for a limited time only, ending on September 1st, 2026.
It’s nice to see Nintendo turning the spotlight on that old simian rascal Donkey Kong, both with this new DK Challenge event and with the recently announced Donkey Kong Lego set, on which we reported previously, as well as the addition of Donkey Kong 64 to the Nintendo Classics catalog, on which we also reported.
Donkey Kong’s popularity has endured for decades now, and it has shown no sign of wavering since the character made his debut in 1981’s Donkey Kong arcade game.
