Armalyte is a horizontally scrolling shoot ‘em up that was originally developed by Cyberdyne Systems and published by Thalamus for the Commodore 64, back in 1988.
However, in 2010, a modern remake of Armalyte, titled Armalyte: The Remake, was released on PC by the homebrew publisher Psytronik, on whose C64 games we’ve reported previously. However, with PC tech constantly evolving, this remake of Armalyte is now, 16 years on from its release, itself, obsolete. Enter the game’s original publisher, in its new modern guise of Thalamus Digital, who have updated Armalyte: The Remake to be compatible with Windows 10 and 11 PCs. Speaking about the update, Thalamus Digital says that: “As part of our efforts to preserve legacy titles from Thalamus’ past, the game has been updated to support Windows 10 & 11.”
The newly update version of Armalyte: The Remake was released on August 20, 2026, and it is available to purchase on PC now for a minimum purchase price of $4.99 USD, via Thalamus Digital’s itch.io page.
Thalamus Digital has been rather prolific in the homebrew scene as of late, with previous titles that they’ve published on which we’ve reported previously having included Head Over JHeels sequel Return to Blacktooth, GBC FPS Wolf, C64 platformer Thin Ice, and a PC compilation of Game Boy Color homebrew titles named The Pocket Collection.
