Flashback Flashes Back onto Atari ST

Flashback, Delphine’s 1992 Amiga platform adventure game seems popular now as it was on its release, some34 years ago. Not only has the game seen official re-releases on a number of modern formats, but it has also received a plethora of fan ports, including a port to the Sega Saturn, on which we reported earlier this year, and now, the game has finally made its way onto the Commodore Amiga’s 16-bit arch rival, the Atari ST, in the form of a fan port by Neil Rackett, who was also responsible for the Atari ST fan ports of Duke Nukem and Dune II, on both of which we reported previously.

Neil Rackett’s Atari ST fan port of Flashback is based on REminiscence, which is Gregory Montoir’s re-implementation of the original game engine, and it requires the data files from the original Amiga version of Flashback in order to run, and to avoid infringing Delphine’s copyright!

While the Atari ST fan port of Flashback is still a work in progress, you can download the current build now, via Github.

The Atari ST seems to be a surprisingly popular format for fan ports lately, as in addition to Flashback, and Neil Rackett’s previous ports that we mentioned above, we also recently reported on an Atari ST fan port of Command & Conquer by the homebrew developer Jonas Eschenburg.
