Afterplace is a pixel art adventure title originally released on Steam in 2024. Now, developer Evan Kice and publisher indie.io have announced that the well-received game is coming to Switch on February 26th, 2026, with pre-orders open now. The game drops you into a strange, interconnected world and then steps back. No quest markers are telling you where to go, and no checklist is pushing you forward. Progress comes from curiosity, observation, and a willingness to wander.
The world of Afterplace is full of characters to talk to, enemies to fight, and places that feel important long before you understand why. Combat happens in real time, but it is not the main focus. Much of Afterplace is about learning how the world fits together, noticing small details, and slowly building your own understanding of what is going on. It certainly looks like an enticing game for adventure fans to be adding to their Switch library.
Afterplace is the kind of game where:
You might walk past something important several times before realizing it matters
Getting lost is normal and often encouraged
The game rarely tells you what something is for until after you have used it
Curiosity is usually rewarded
