Atari 50, Digital Eclipse’s lovingly created tribute to the history of Atari games for modern formats, is set to get new DLC, this time celebrating Atari’s relationship with Namco. This news comes hot on the heels of another Atari/Namco partnership, in the form of the forthcoming Atari 2600+ Pac-Man Edition, on which we reported yesterday. So, if you prefer to do your Atari retro gaming on a modern platform, this new DLC is ideal! The Atari 50 Anniversary Celebration Namco Legendary Pack will add an all-new interactive timeline and more playable games including Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Galaga, Galaxian, and Xevious. The DLC will include three Atari Pac-Man games: Pac-Man 2600, 5200, and Atari 8-bit. This will be the first ever re-release of these games for consoles.
The Atari 50 Anniversary Celebration Namco Legendary Pack isn’t the first DLC to be released for Atari 50 since its launch. We previously reported on the Wider World of Atari DLC, which also added new video content and more games to the compilation.
It’s nearly three years since the Atari 50 compilation was originally released for PlayStation 4&5, PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Atari VCS, so it’s great to see that it’s continuing to get new content so far into its life. The Atari 50 Anniversary Celebration Namco Legendary Pack was announced on Atari’s X feed, and it is due for release later this year.
