We love seeing new games for old consoles, and Echoes of the Unread, a new NES adventure, is shaping up to be one of the best of this year. We brought you our preview of developer Clever Cat Games and publisher Mega Cat Studio’s new title in April, and we were impressed by what we saw in the demo. Now, the game is up for pre-order via a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, and it has nearly hit its target as we went to press with this news.
Echoes of the Unread puts players in the shoes of Rhapsody, a young girl who, after falling asleep while studying in the library, awakens to a strange world where the books have come to life and her voice has the power to shape the world around her with song. To find her way back home, Rhapsody must step into the pages of these tales and explore a variety of imaginative realms where she’ll sing mystical melodies to escape the clutches of the wicked magician.
In conjunction with the launch of the Kickstarter campaign, a new trailer shows some more of the game not seen before and introduces a few features players will be able to enjoy throughout the colourful adventure. Those wanting to expand the experience can add artbooks, soundtracks, posters and a treasure trove of goodies to their order of the cart, which comes with a manual and outer box. Those wanting a more modern experience can opt for a digital ROM for use on emulators and SD card carts.
