Retro-styled JRPG Forge Of The Fae New Trailer And Development Update

forge of the fae

We’ve been following the story of Forge of the Fae since it was first announced back in 2024. Since then, the pixel art JRPG has been successfully crowdfunded, and a demo has been released. Now, developer Datadyne, alongside publisher Deck13 Spotlight, has unveiled a new trailer showing a further glimpse of the 1800s Ireland world the game is set in. There was also news that a new build, close to the final product, has been sent out to crowdfunding backers.

Forge of the Fae is expected to be released on Steam in 2027, which still means it’s some way off, and we do wonder if that will give the developers more time to look at console ports as this feels likea perfect Switch title.

Set in a world inspired by 1800s Ireland, Forge of the Fae plunges players into a beautifully crafted narrative where humans and fae conflict. As an ancient power awakens and tensions rise, players will follow the journey of Fiora, a young inventor, as she uncovers the secrets of her world, whilst navigating a complex mystery and discovering who she can become. Decisions made will influence the outcome, giving players control over the story’s direction and creating a more personal experience.

Drawing inspiration from classic JRPGs, Forge of the Fae features a deep turn-based combat system where strategy reigns supreme. Players will be challenged to master the “ARC Crystal System” and “Adrenaline” systems, which offer versatile, customizable spells and abilities, adding depth and excitement to combat. Alongside the action, intricate puzzles scattered throughout the world encourage exploration and reward players with powerful items and hidden lore.
