While not strictly retro, we’re sure you’ll forgive us for posting about a new Hellraiser title. The retro horror movie series is getting its first video game, with the announcement coming from developer Boss Team Games that Hellraiser: Revival is heading to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. Although no release date has been set, there is also news of a collector’s edition physical that can be pre-ordered directly from Boss Team Games.
Hellraiser: Revival is a new single-player survival horror action game where players will come face-to-face with Pinhead, voiced by the returning Doug Bradley after nearly two decades away. Clive Barker, original creator of the Hellraiser franchise, is also involved with guiding this new, nightmarish chapter. Players will also experience a new realm of suffering in this story-driven, survival horror action game, based on the classic movies.
“Working on the first true Hellraiser game has been a venture deep into the recesses of my darkest imaginings,” said Clive Barker, horror legend and creator of the series. “The dedication that Saber and Boss Team Games have shown is nothing short of remarkable. They’ve immersed themselves in the Hellraiser universe, capturing its essence, the seductive pull of suffering, the beauty within the grotesque, and forged a narrative that invites players to step beyond the threshold.”
“Hellraiser is the quintessential horror franchise, and lends itself perfectly to a video game,” said Matthew Karch, CEO and co-founder of Saber Interactive. “Saber has had success with horror IPs in the past, and working alongside Clive to create tense gameplay and a new story that delves into the twisted depths of pain and pleasure has been a real treat. We look forward to opening up the gates of hell.”
It seems they have such sights to show us…
