The Impossible Mission games are widely regarded as two of the greatest games ever to be released for the Commodore 64 home computer, and now, some 42 years after the release of the first game, a third game, Impossible Mission 3, is set to be released – on the very format on which it all began, the Commodore 64.
Unlike most current day 8-bit home computer sequels that we see, Impossible Mission 3 is an official sequel, and not just a homebrew fan game.
Impossible Mission 3 will be published by Psytronik Software, in association with Epyx Games, LLC., Code 10 Digital, Retro Games Ltd, and Icon 64.
Features of Impossible Mission 3 will include: animated intro and end sequences; new gameplay mechanics; PAL and NTSC compatibility, and C64 Mini/Maxi/Ultimate compatibility.
Impossible Mission 3 has design, graphics and speech, and packaging designed by Trevor Storey; code by Stuart Collier; music by Saul Cross; and a brand new tape loading system by Martin Piper & Stuart Collier.
Psytronik Software will be publishing Impossible Mission 3 on both Commodore 64 cassette, and on cartridge, which will also come with a digital download of the game. Pre-orders for the game set to open next month. The game’s publisher, Psytronik Software is a prolific publisher of games for the Commodore 64, as we have previously reported.
