Lotus: Lost Memories is a new turn-based 2D-pixel action visual novel following the tale of a young samurai. The game is due for release on Steam in the latter part of 2025, but in the meantime, keen katana-swinging gamers can get a taste with a new demo released just in time for Steam Next Fest. Lotus: Lost Memories has been developed by Sava Beris and Ahamed Inhaam, the duo development team behind Fenyx Digital.
According to the developers, Lotus: Lost Memories is “where turn-based combat meets a narrative-driven story about growth, loss, and legacy.” Set in a mythically inspired feudal Japan, this story follows Atsushi as he embarks on a quest to save his ill father. The only way to heal his father is to obtain the Raikestsu herb, a precious plant that can only be found through deadly trials hosted by Emperor Lord Hisashi, featuring the most skilled samurai from all across Japan.
The game features beautiful pixel art that brings the scenes of feudal Japan alive in a fantastic retro way. The mix of turn-based combat and narrative-driven gameplay is also interesting, and this title does seem to be trying something different. The demo allows play of the first 20 minutes of the opening act, including a mini-boss.
