Mexican Ninja is a new retro-inspired brawler that uses old-school mechanics mixed with modern roguelike gameplay to create a frantic experience. It’s due for release on Steam in 2026, and developer Madbricks, along with publisher Amber Studios, has described Mexican Ninja as a “pick-up-and-play brawling that’s easy to learn, yet rewards mastery that only a true ninja can achieve”.
The game employs 2.5D graphics and perspective, incorporating elements from Mexican and Japanese cultures. Players will take control of a ninja in the streets of Nuevo-Tokyo, ruled by Mexico’s Narcos and Japan’s Yakuza who’ve merged to form a new ruling class: The Narkuzas. Our ninja hero must slice his way through the evil regime and help the rebels restore freedom. It will require precise movement, positioning, and perfectly timed attacks to achieve victory.
“I couldn’t be prouder of what the whole Amber team has helped us build and bring to life through this game. In my culture, the idea of a hero rising up has always been needed,” said Mexican Ninja franchise writer and director Carlos Rincones. “Having profound admiration for Japanese culture, its history, and its roots, it naturally seemed like the perfect one to blend and contrast with my own.”
