NESBook is a new tome from our friends at Ninty Media. The 200+ page book is currently going through a crowdfunding phase on Kickstarter, and at the time of writing, has already secured more than half of the funding to get the project over the line. The book’s main writer is Stuart Gipp, known for his work with Retronauts among other projects. There are contributions from a wide range of experts as well, including Chris Scullion, Dani Cross, and Damiano Gerli.
Ninty Media has described NESBook as being “focused on Nintendo‘s iconic hardware” and “essential reading for all NES fanatics”. The book coincides with the 40th anniversary of the NES being released and will feature historical dives into many classic games on the console, as well as the hardware from the original console. It will also look at the NES rivals like the Sega Master System and modern aspects, such as the more recent NES Mini.
As with other Ninty Media books, unique illustrations from known retro artists will accompany the features. So far, Thiago Radice, Iago Machado, Raphaella Silva, and Darren Palma have contributed, with many more yet to be commissioned. NESBook will be coming with a hardcover finish, printed on high-quality, uncoated paper stock, and with a target of at least 220+ pages.
