Capcom is said to be working on a remake of the first Resident Evil game to commemorate the series’ 30th anniversary in 2026. Leaks from entertainment reporter Daniel Richtman and Twitter user @PRE_Alarabiya indicate that the remake is currently in development.
This news suggests a potential delay in the release of other rumored remake projects, such as a Resident Evil 5 Remake. The focus on revisiting older titles like Resident Evil 1 instead of advancing further in the series might disappoint some fans, particularly those who were anticipating a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica. Confirmation from Capcom is still awaited, but official news could be imminent as the summer showcase season approaches.
