Shroomwood is a new top-down 2D action roguelike from developer Sporelite Games and published by Zemore Indie Games. We first reported on it when the demo launched in November 2025. The game is scheduled for release on Steam in 2026, but a new playtest will give interested gamers a glimpse of what to expect and help with the development.
Playtesters will also gain early access to demo builds and be invited into the Official Shroomwood Discord to discuss experiences with developers, share suggestions, and influence upcoming updates. Interested players can request access to the playtest via the Shroomwood Steam page.
In a press statement, the publisher said. “Sporelite Games is now recruiting playtesters ahead of its Early Access launch on Steam this year. Players who join the playtest will help shape the future of this fast-paced, procedurally generated game and have direct input on its development.”
Shroomwood casts players as Shroomie, a mushroom warrior exploring an ever-changing magical forest teeming with strange, corrupted creatures. Each run through Shroomwood’s vibrant biomes offers fresh challenges with randomized layouts, unique weapons, powerful modifiers, and unpredictable enemies.
