SoulQuest is a new action platformer from developer Soulblade Studios and publisher indie.io that will be released on Steam on May 1st, 2026. The game features splendid pixel art and what looks like very tight action. There is a Steam demo available now for those looking to try before the full release next month. Speaking about SoulQuest, the developer has said players will “face the goddess of death in a spectacular side-scrolling hack-and-slash”.

The story in SoulQuest draws on the rich legacy of Celtic folklore and Arthurian myths, combining them with a crisp retro aesthetic and medieval-inspired soundtrack for an unforgettable experience across iconic areas of the British Isles. Thanks to frame-perfect animations and responsive controls, players add their own beauty to the landscape, cutting through enemies using a flurry of moves that are as beautiful as they are effective at dispatching them.

In a press statement, Soulblade Studio said. “As Alys, a freshly widowed Celtic warrior who refuses to accept the judgment of the gods, players will experience a story of loss and vengeance combined with stunning, fast-paced gameplay, slashing their way through hordes of enemies using a freeform, combo-based combat system that’s as intuitive as it is gorgeous to behold.”
