Stinger is this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives line, which, as you probably know by now, releases emulated arcade titles on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on a weekly basis.
This week’s release of Stinger follows last week’s Arcade Archives release of Konami’s 1984 basketball game Super Basketball, on which we previously reported.
And Stinger is an even older game than last week’s Arcade Archives offering, having been originally released by Seibu Kaihatsu way back in 1983.
Stinger is an arcade shoot ‘em up in which, according to Hamster Corporation, you “Take control of the “Stinger Wolf” and head to the center of an enemy base where evil life forms roam In an emergency, you can call on the friendly robot “BONGO” to automatically destroy the enemy.”
The Arcade Archives release of Stinger appears to be the first ever home release of the game, which is quite remarkable, as it is some 42 years since the game first hit arcades! One of the great things about Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives series is that it digs out genuinely forgotten gems like such as this week’s release of Stinger, as well as releasing arcade-perfect home releases of beloved arcade classics that everyone knows and loves.
The Arcade Archives release of Stinger is available now on both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
