Take-Two Shuts Down HeliCity Demolition Man, A $2 PS4 Clone Of GTA: Vice City Mission

Take-Two Interactive has taken action to shut down a $2 PlayStation 4 game titled HeliCity Demolition Man, which was developed by Erik Games. This game was essentially an unlicensed clone of the infamous “Demolition Man” mission from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. In this mission, players were required to destroy a building using a remote-control helicopter, a task that many players found notoriously frustrating.

The game, HeliCity Demolition Man, allowed players to control a demolition helicopter to strategically plant explosives in a construction site while facing adversaries. Despite its low price and the nostalgic nod to a well-known mission, Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games, took issue with the game due to its clear replication of content from GTA: Vice City. As a result, the game was removed from sale, and even its promotional materials, such as trailers, were taken down.

This move by Take-Two is consistent with their history of protecting their intellectual property, as seen in previous actions against fan-created projects that reverse-engineered or closely replicated their games.
