Pixel Art Brawler Toxic Crusaders New Trailer

Pixel Art Brawler Toxic Crusaders New Trailer

Way back in June 2024, we were getting pumped for the release of Toxic Crusaders, a new pixel art brawler, from developer Retroware. The game is still in development, but a new trailer has been released showcasing some new areas and boss fights to give Troma fans something to cheer. The game will release to consoles and Steam this year and is riding the popularity wave of retro licenses, getting the retro brawler treatment, such as Turtles and Power Rangers.

In a press statement, Retroware said. “The new trailer offers a hard-hitting look at what awaits in this follow-up to the classic cartoon series. Watch as the game’s seven playable pugilists slap the sludge out of Dr. Killemoff’s scummy Radiation Rangers, perform seamless character swaps to pile on the punishment, and more. The trailer also offers a look at some of the iconic villains Toxie and his companions will cross mops with when the game releases later this year.” Those wanting a further taste can try out the demo on Steam.

Key Features:

  • Unleash Co-op Carnage: relive the glory days of arcade beat-’em-ups and mop up Dr. Killemoff’s Radiation Rangers with up to four players simultaneously.
  • Myriad Mutants: Take to the streets of Tromaville with seven playable pugilists, each with their own unique abilities, including Toxie, Nozone, Junkyard, Major Disaster, Headbanger, Yvonne, and Mrs. Junko
  • A Saturday Morning Slugfest: Punch, kick, and mop your way through an all-new story crafted to continue the narrative of the 1991 cartoon series, which only aired for one season.
  • Intoxicating Visuals: Vibrant backgrounds and eye-popping character sprites combine to bring Toxic Crusaders’ Saturday morning cartoon world to life.
