Turn-based strategy title Wirelight has new Steam demo

Wirelight is a new pixel art turn-based strategy title due for release on Steam later in 2025. Developer elsif has described the game as a ”tiny turn-based soulslike” and has confirmed that a new demo is available to play on Steam now. The game features many features synonymous with turn-based strategy titles, such as equipment management, dungeon exploration and character level-ups.

In a press release, elsif said. “Wirelight uses a unique spin on the soulslike game structure, taking familiar elements like stamina management, positional combat, and a posture-like system for enemies, and adapts them to a turn-based, grid-based tactical structure.  Precise timing is replaced with the calm deliberation of turn-based gameplay, but things can still spiral out of control quickly, if you don’t think several turns ahead.”

The game has branching paths that loop back on themselves and features “chunky” 8-bit style graphics and vibrant colours. There is also the promise of rich variety in the types of landscapes to explore, including ruins, lush forests and watery worlds as well as areas filled with mysterious machinery. The demo presents the first main area of the game, with multiple equippable items to try out, and several boss/miniboss encounters to test your abilities.
