In March, we brought you the news that Yooka-Replayee, a remake of the 2017 retro-inspired platformer, would be heading to PC and consoles later in the year. For the latest Steam Next Fest, developer Playtonic has announced a new 30-minute demo that will showcase brand-new content not seen before. It will also highlight new features and gameplay that set the remake apart from the original Yooka-Laylee.

In a press statement, Playtonic said. “With approximately 30 minutes of playable content, the Yooka-Replaylee demo offers players a look at the completely redone start to the game, including brand-new cutscenes! Learn how Yooka and Laylee came into possession of the One Book and play through the stunning crystal cave levels built to offer a fully tutorialised experience.”

Although we’re still awaiting a release date for Yooka-Replaylee, this demo will give fans and newcomers a first real look at what can be expected when he game arrives later this year. The remake has improved visuals, challenges, and camera controls as well as a better world map and even more collectables for those who love old-school 3D platforming. One of the stand-out improvements will be the soundtrack, from veteran composers Grant Kirkhope and David Wise, being rearranged as a beautifully orchestral score.
