Toaplan’s classic arcade games seem to be having something of a renaissance at the moment. We’ve previously reported on collections of Toaplan games for retro 16-bit consoles and Evercade, and even mobiles, and now, Tatsujin, a Japanese video game publisher that was one of the original founders of the legendary arcade developer Toaplan, hasannounced a two-volume “ultimate collection” of Toaplan‘s shoot ’em up titles will be heading to Europe for modern formats.
Toaplan Arcade Collections Vol 1 & 2 are set to be released on August 14th, 2025. Both compilations will be released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and there will also be a physical version available for PlayStation 5. The collections are being published in Europe by Clear River Games.
The games on Toaplan Arcade Collection vol. 1 are Flying Shark, Fire Shark, Tiger Heli, Twin Cobra, Out Zone, Fixeight, and Dogyuun.
Meanwhile, Toaplan Arcade Collection vol. 2 will include Slap Fight, Grind Stormer, Truxton, Truxton II, Vimana, and Twin Hawk.
The games will include moder quality of life improvements, including Xbox Achievements, PlayStation Trophies, stat tracking, customizable difficulty, and optional autofire. There are also optional assist features that decrease the size of hitboxes and increase the amount of damage that you can take before being killed. There are also rewind and quick save functionality, with up to six save slots per title.
