Synthesis of Corruption is a new retro-inspired FPS from solo Ukrainian developer VidyGames. The FPS is out now on Steam and features low-poly, 90s-style graphics as well as classic gameplay tropes established during the genre’s golden era. Synthesis of Corruption follows the usual storyline of a failed experiment that has led to monsters overwhelming the facility, and it’s up to our hero to stop the threat. It certainly looks like the kind of game that we would’ve picked up back in the day.
The developer has described Synthesis of Corruption as an “atmospheric FPS-horror hybrid” that is tied to the developer’s earlier title, Re.Surs, which launched back in 2021. It also dips into the narrative of other titles from the developer. The game pits players against a horde of monsters created by a “corrupted dark energy” accidentally released when scientists mess up their experiments. One of the assistant researchers, whom the player takes control of, has taken it upon themselves to rid the complex of the enemies.
