Return to Dark Castle is a reimaging of the original Dark Castle games released on Macintosh in 1986 and 1987. This definitive edition includes the complete Dark Castle and Beyond Dark Castle adventures rebuilt with color visuals, remastered audio, original music, and refined controls. Return to Dark Castle will also feature 50 all-new rooms created exclusively for this release. In describing the game, developer Z Sculpt Entertainment said that “every room is a puzzle and every mistake is hilarious”.

The game will launch on Steam on March 6th, 2026, and “revives the legendary Macintosh series that defined precision platforming and comic peril”. Players will step into the boots of a new hero on a quest to defeat the Black Knight and reclaim the castle’s secrets. They should expect classic challenge, slapstick misfortune, and finely tuned puzzle-platforming that rewards skill and patience. It’s great to see the return of a series that helped define a genre when it first appeared.
