Bearnard brings 8-bit Style Adventuring to Switch

Bearnard

Bearnard has been described as “a unique mix of turn-based combat, archery, and card-enhanced battles alongside classic action-adventuring inspired by the peak of 8-bit era games.” Well, anything with an 8-bit style is sure to pique our interest here at Retro News, so we thought we’d let you know about Bearnard heading to Nintendo Switch.

The game has previously been released on Steam, where it has received overwhelmingly positive reviews, with an impressive 97% rating, and now, Nintendo Switch owners can also get in on the 8-bit style Bearnard action adventuring.

Bearnard’s publishers Untold Tales describe Bearnard, which is all the work of a solo developer by the name of Michał Wikliński, as follows: “Bearnard seems like your typical bear. Lazy, grumpy, and always looking for an excuse to nap. But he’s also a master archer and a rather reluctant hero, begrudgingly talked into an epic adventure to reclaim a legendary bow and defend his woodland home.”
They go on to add “In this single-player, story-driven journey, you’ll explore diverse landscapes, battle countless enemies, solve physics-based puzzles, and meet a cast of quirky characters. Collect and unleash powerful cards in turn-based battles, carefully strategizing each move to outwit and overcome your foes.”

The 8-bit inspired action adventure Bearnard is out now on Nintendo Switch as a console launch exclusive, and is available to buy from the Nintendo eshop.
