DaemonClaw: Origins of Nnar is a forthcoming 2D pixel art side-scrolling hack and slash game by indie retro developer BitBeamCannon, and the game entered Steam Early Access yesterday (Decrember 3rd, 2025).
The Steam Early Access version of DaemonClaw: Origins of Nnar includes the full, finished, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive version of the game along with a playable build of the still in development modern version of the game, and once it’s finished, the Neo Geo version of the game will also be added.
In fact, we previously reported on the Neo Geo version of DaemonClaw: Origins of Nnar, when pre-orders for the physical version opened.
The game’s developers describe themselves as “a small independent game studio dedicated to making retro arcade and console style games highly inspired by the 8- and 16-bit era of games.” They described the game itself as follows: “Defend humanity from a surprise attack by the mystical creatures of the world of Nnar in this side-scrolling action game coming to modern platforms and classic 16-bit consoles.”
The game’s features are listed as:” classic 16-bit graphics; fast action classic side-scrolling gameplay; and a fantastic original soundtrack by Allister Brimble.” That all sounds right up our street, here at Retro News!
