Scrambled Egg Hatches out of the Arcade Archives

Scrambled Egg with Japanese Arcade Archives banner

The tasty sounding Scrambled Egg is this week’s release on Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 lines of emulated arcade games for modern consoles.

Originally released into Japanese arcades by Technos over 40 years ago, way back in 1983, Scrambled Egg is an action game in which the player has to kick eggs in order to crack them open, hatching chicks in the process. The player must then launch their newborn chicks into the sky.

We’re not sure that’s actually how the chick incubation process works in real life, but it’s how it works in the game!

Scrambled Egg is out now as part of the Arcade Archives line for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. The game has also been released as part of the Arcade Archives 2 line for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

We’re rather surprised to see Scrambled Egg get an Arcade Archives 2 release, as up until now, all of the Arcade Archives 2 games have been from the late 1980s, or the 1990s, such as last week’s release of 1988’s Chopper I, on which we previously reported. This means that Scrambled Egg is the oldest game to be released for the Arcade Archives 2 line to date.

Scrambled Egg is waiting to be consumed now on the Nintendo Store, PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store.
