Solar Echoes: Star Fated is a new top-down open-world space shooter from developer Corefun Games. It’s based in the same universe as the tabletop RPG Solar Echoes, designed by the same company. Players pilot the starship of a hunted villain, his crew fears him, every faction in the galaxy is after him, and you’re the one flying his ship. A new trailer shows off what players can expect in this action RPG title.
Players pilot the starship of Asteron, a criminal commander on the run with a stolen alien artifact and every major faction in the galaxy hunting him: the Black Stars crime syndicate, the Union Guard, bounty hunters, and pirate gangs. Asteron is a fully defined character with his own personality, backstory, and arc, not a blank slate. Players pilot his ship and witness his story unfold, closer in feel to a JRPG protagonist than a player-authored hero.
Players explore open star systems, take on criminal jobs, and engage enemies in real-time top-down ship combat. Asteron’s ship is upgradeable with over 750 equipment items across weapons, shields, engines, and armour. Every destroyed ship leaves wreckage behind: valuable loot and metal scrap to repair your hull. The pressure from multiple hunting factions never stops.
The game world reacts to player choices. Raid a supply ship, and that inventory disappears from the destination station. News broadcasts track Asteron’s actions across star systems. NPC encounters branch depending on who the player helps, opening and closing quest lines throughout the game.
Andy, developer at Corefun Studios, said. “For every Solar Echoes story I’ve written, I ask: what forged this character? Asteron was always one of the most compelling figures in the lore. Star Fated is his origin story, and the first time players get to experience the Solar Echoes universe from the criminal’s side.”
