Rebellion introduced the ‘Rebellion Retro’ brand in 2024, tapping into the studio’s rich 30+ year history in video games. The aim of Rebellion Retro is to encourage retro gaming fans to relive old arcade favourites and beloved 80s adventures through products such as clothing and accessories.
And now, Rebellion Retro has launched a new line of retro game-inspired clothing, for sale at the IGN Store.
Rebellion is a UK-based publisher and developer of video games and the long-running 2000 AD comic.
Games featured under the Rebellion Retro brand include iconic releases by The Bitmap Brothers and Atari, such as: Speedball, which is based on a violent futuristic sport that draws on elements of handball, ice hockey and brutal combat, that was first released in 1988; Battle Zone, which is a 1980 first-person shooter tank combat game, one of the first games to use vector graphics to simulate 3D environments; Dropzone, a Commodore 64 defender shoot ’em up, launched in 1984; The Chaos Engine, a top-down run and gun game that was released in 1993, set in a steampunk Victorian age; Magic Pockets, a platformer first released in 1991; Gods, another platformer from 1991, known for its detailed sprite art and dark mythological aesthetic; Z, a real time strategy tactics game about two armies of robots released in 1996; Moonbase Commander, a strategy game that put you in charge of your own lunar territory in a quest to build the most powerful empire in space, released in 2002; and Xenon 2 Megablast, a shoot ’em up released in 1989, known for its slick visuals and standout soundtrack.
A range of ‘Rebellion Retro’ t-shirts and hoodies is also available via the official Rebellion Shop, each with a unique old-school aesthetic.
